Get ready for a spooky good time during Spirits and Spirits in historic Occoquan, VA!

 

We are excited for this year's annual Spirits & Spirits in historic Occoquan! This popular fall event is back October 27 & 28 with hauntingly fun activities for adults, kids, and families.

​

Free shuttle service will be available throughout the event, via the Occoquan Express. Park at the Rt. 123/Old Bridge commuter lot and be taken directly into town!

Best Laid Plans: An Old Hollywood Murder Mystery

 

Friday, October 27 at 7:30pm

River Mill Park, 458 Mill Street, Occoquan, VA

Come to the quintessential whodunnit thriller at the estate of Sir Warren Peace and get thrown into a night of mystery, intrigue, and murder you will never forget. With a killer crowd of people just waiting for murder to arrive on the scene, this night will keep everyone looking over their shoulders and guessing who the next victim will be! Bribe suspects for clues and gather information to uncover the unhinged guest who is whacking all the invitees. Just be careful, because you could be next! Dress your best in evening wear and suits—this is a refined party, after all.

Dessert appetizers will be served. Outside food is welcome, but outside alcohol and glass containers are not permitted.

The Dapper Dive Bar will be open from 6:30-10:00pm with beer, wine, and spirits for purchase (cash or credit card). The bar is provided by Patriots for Disabled Divers, an Occoquan 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

​

This event takes place OUTDOORS in River Mill Park. Seating and tables are provided. If inclement weather occurs, there is a rain date of Sunday, October 29. If canceled, refunds or transfers for this event are available.

Costume Parade & Contest

 

Saturday, October 28 at 10am

Mill Street/River Mill Park

 

Join the Town of Occoquan’s family-friendly Occoquan Costume Parade & Contest on Saturday, October 28 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Starting at 10:00am, Town of Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta (aka Iron Man) will lead the parade down Mill Street to River Mill Park, where costume judging will take place. Judging categories include: cutest, scariest, funniest, most original, and family/group. 1st place winners in each costume category will be awarded $25 gift certificates that can be used in select businesses throughout town. 

 

Parade participants will line up near the Riverwalk Shops at 125 Mill Street. The 100 through 400 blocks of Mill Street will be briefly closed on a rolling basis between 10:00-10:30am. There is no fee to participate. This event is open to everyone!

No advance registration is necessary.

Haunted Maze & Spirit Garden

 

Saturday, October 28 from 5-10pm

305 Mill Street, Occoquan, VA

 

Come prepared to be scared! On Saturday, October 28 Patriot's For Disabled Divers hosts the Haunted Maze, rated PG-13 (for adults and brave, older kids). Enter the maze through the spooky Spirit Garden, then navigate your way through 15 themed areas full of scary skeletons, creepy crawlies, and ghoulish goblins. You might even run into the grim reaper in one of the 32 scare zones!

 

When you are sufficiently spooked, quench your thirst at the DIVE Bar located just outside the maze in the Spirit Garden. Order a Halloween themed spirit as a DJ spins dance music fit for all ghosts and ghouls. No tickets required for the Spirit Garden.

 

Admission to the maze is $10 for ages 13+ and $5 for 12 and under. Tickets are available for purchase at the door or in advance. The maze is not recommended for young children as it may be too scary. All event proceeds from the Haunted Maze & Spirit Garden benefit local non-profit Patriots for Disabled Divers.
